Now, lets back track a little bit. About a week or two ago I finally had to close shave my head with a razor. I was getting some major bald spots all over my head and it was just plumb time to handle it. At first I was sad and worried when I started. Once I finished I felt empowered and strong. I had taken control of some part of my life again, and it felt good.
So back to the pool...
Upon arrival I suddenly, for the first time, became acutely aware of the lack of hairs on my head. As I looked around the pool and saw young mothers like me enjoying the day with their kids. They were visiting with their friends who had joined them and were carefully watching their children. However, there was one thing they all had, every single one of them... hair. Each mom had an adorable messy bun or cute braids or some creative twisty up-do. So I sat there in the shallow end with my baby (who was wailing her head off because she hated the water) feeling sorry for my bald self.
I sat there for about 10 minutes (finally got my baby to feel secure and was happily watching other children play while sitting on my lap) thinking about my hairless sorry self and I had a life guard walk up to me and say, "Miss..." Oh great, what did I do? What have my kids done... are we being kicked out for some weird reason? I replied, "yes....?" She then looked me in the eye and said, "I just wanted you to know that I think you are beautiful!"
I was shocked! How did she know that is what I needed to hear at that exact moment?! I said, "Thank you so much!" and thought to myself, wow, how random and kind.
I smiled and suddenly felt less aware of the full heads of hair all around me.
Not even 10 minutes later, I was in the lazy river with all four of my children and we went into a side cove where the current was weak and were laughing. A little girl already in the cove swam to me and said, "Hi! You look nice today!" and then she swam away as soon as I said my thank you. Twice... twice with in 15 minutes of my pity my hairless head party!
Folks, the Lord looks out for us. In Mosiah 24:14, the Lord says, "ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions." He walks with us up our mountains. He carries us when we are weary. He visits us when we are alone. He knows when we need a hug. Also, when we need an answer to a prayer, or when we just need a kind word from a stranger. He is always watching and taking care of us.
Trust in Heavenly Father and when you have a bad day, He will come and make it bright! He is doing it for me, I know He will do it for you!
Love you all and I hope you are feeling His love through your trials, as I am.
